Here, we don't really have winter! Temperatures remain mild in this season and it is not uncommon to enjoy the sun at Christmas.
Winter is therefore an ideal season for exploring hiking trails or cycling along back roads... a time conducive to slow tourism in the Mediterranean Pyrenees.

Enjoying the beach in winter

Here, the beach is not only in summer. Nothing like a meditation break on a deserted beach, with the rolling of the waves as background sound. The landscapes of beaches winter colors, with expanses of driftwood that the sea has left in memory of magical memories.
And yet it is not uncommon to encounter a few swimmers or children attracted by the waves… the water here is never really very cold!

Did you know?

Every January 1st, to celebrate the first day of the year, a New Year's bath is organized on different beaches in the department, notably at Argelès-sur-Mer and Cerberus.

Don't hesitate to take part in this event… laughter and good humor guaranteed!

Winter in the Pyrenees Mediterranean also coincides with the end-of-year festivities…

Whether you're preparing for the holidays or simply looking to treat yourself, several Christmas markets are planned in our villages. They all showcase local producers and artisans from the surrounding area! This has become a hallmark of these markets, which now focus on quality and locally sourced products. It's a great opportunity to buy local and support the crafts and products of the Pyrénées-Orientales region.
