BÉNITIER DE L'ABBAYE DE SAINT-ANDRÉ

This holy water font, preserved in the church of Saint-André, constitutes a remarkable assemblage of sculpted elements dating from different periods of the Middle Ages.
Made of marble, it consists of a conical basin attributed to the 9th-10th centuries, resting on a capital and a truncated column from the 13th century. This reuse of older elements illustrates the continuity of religious occupation of the site and the evolution of liturgical furnishings over the centuries.
Classified as a movable object since 1892, it is among the oldest heritage pieces preserved in the church.
