VOILE – Le Cap l'Abeille
Discover the rich landscapes of the territory by sailing
The Yacht Club invites you to discover the Côte Vermeille with a sailing trip departing from Banyuls-sur-Mer.
The Yacht Club Banyuls invites you to combine discovery of the Côte Vermeille and learning to sail during a sail from Banyuls-sur-Mer. Ideal for families, this activity is accessible to all, and can accommodate up to four people. For nearly 2 hours, you sail aboard a small sailboat along the rocky coast accompanied by a sailing instructor. Holding the helm, hoisting the sails, tacking... it introduces you to navigation. Depending on the weather conditions, the instructor will guide you north to Cape Ullastrell, or south to Cape l'Abeille. With a southerly wind, you go upwind to Cape l'Abeille passing in front of the Troc beach. Your route runs along the rocky coast from the port of Banyuls-sur-Mer. You quickly find yourself in the marine nature reserve of Cerbère-Banyuls. This magnificent place allows you to observe unique landscapes. The rock at sea level, being constantly wetted by sea spray, provides prime hospitality for shellfish. The seabed can also be observed. Between 15 and 30 meters deep, many Posidonia beds undulate with the currents. Forming a real aquatic meadow, they are the refuge of many species of fish and octopus. Strolling through this rich ecosystem, your sailing trip ends with the discovery of Cap l'Abeille, marked by very jagged schist cliffs in beige or dark gray hues. Your trip makes you discover the rich landscape of the territory by practicing sailing . To return to the port, you take advantage of the joys of the tailwind, while enjoying an overview of the entire bay of Banyuls where the mountain seems to literally plunge into the sea.
