Installed during the summer season, at the start of Peyrefite de Cerbère beach, in a sheltered bay, the underwater trail can be visited by swimming on the surface equipped with a mask, snorkel and fins.
Along a 500m marked route, and in a few meters of water, you explore the small rocky depths to discover the beauty of underwater life.
The 5 observation stations represent 5 different ecosystems: Pebbles, Posidonia meadows, blocks, faults and drop-offs (in French; paper documentation in English, German, Spanish and Catalan available at the Info Point).
The underwater trail was designed not only to meet the motivation of visitors according to their age and culture, but also to adapt to their availability. The route can remain a recreational and original stroll but it also aims to be an educational space dedicated to all sea enthusiasts.
Practical information :
Fins, masks, snorkels, and a waterproof MP3 player (available in French/English only) are available for rent at the Information Point (rental fee applies), from 12 p.m. to 17 p.m., with equipment returned by 18 p.m. at the latest. Proof of identity will be required for all rentals.
The Information Point is open every day in July and August (Wednesday to Sunday in June and September).
For those who wish to go there in the morning, equipment rental is available from 9:30 a.m. at VERMEILLE KAYAK (06 87 20 77 44), which welcomes you to its nautical base near the beach.
