The beaches
🐾 Paws in the water, gazing towards the Albères
A Argelès-sur-Mer, Dogs are allowed on two beaches:
– at the level of the fishermen's parking lot, between the port and Racou, south of the dike (port area prohibited for swimming);
– north of First Aid Post No. 1 (at the Mas Larrieu Nature Reserve).
However, swimming and training are prohibited from 9:30 a.m. to 19 p.m.


À Port-VendresDogs are not allowed on the beaches of Crique d'en Bœuf, Crique de l'Oli, or in the Bay of Paulilles (Bernardi, Usine, and del Forat beaches). However, They are tolerated in the small coves located inside the port area, particularly the one by the jetty.
À Collioure, Banyuls-sur-Mer et CerbèreDogs are also not allowed on the beaches.
In general, we recommend that you refer to the signs on site indicating areas where animals are prohibited.

Which accommodations accept dogs?

Which restaurants are dog-friendly?
Most restaurants Many establishments in the area readily welcome dogs, especially on their terraces. However, we advise you to call ahead, as each establishment has its own rules.
Are dogs allowed on buses?

Other dogs only the small sizes transported in a bag or a closed cage are allowed. Larger dogs are not accepted.
Are dogs allowed on TER trains?
Yes. TER Occitanie allows dogs, small and large, provided that the boarding rules are respected (leash, muzzle for categorized dogs, specific ticket for large dogs).
Where to walk with your dog?
Hiking in the Albères mountains, secluded coves outside the patrolled season, villages and vineyards: many walks are accessible. Just remember to keep your dog on a leash in protected natural areas.
Are there any specific rules in natural areas?
Yes: to protect wildlife, flora and livestock, leashes are mandatory on many trails and in certain areas Nature 2000. And as always: fresh water, regular breaks, and be careful of the heat.
Cyanobacteria, what exactly are they?
Cyanobacteria are microorganisms that can produce toxins dangerous to dogs, especially during the warmer months when river levels drop and the water warms up. For your pet's safety, It is strongly recommended not to let him bathe or drink the water of the rivers of the Albères, or of the Tech, especially in the summer period. Keep your dog on a leash, do not allow it access to the river or play with wet sticks or pebbles, and monitor its behavior after each walk near the water.
