The hike

In summer, the paths of the Côte Vermeille and in particular the coastal path attract many walkers.
During this period, prefer the trails in the hinterland, in the Albères, which are much calmer.

Moreover, here the forest brings shade and coolness that hikers are looking for.
Do not hesitate either to leave early in the morning when the heat is not yet too heavy.
Do not forget however to consult the weather forecast as well as the fire risks and the traffic conditions in the massif.

Villeneuve de la Raho Lake

Located in Villeneuve-de-la-Raho, halfway between Elne and Perpignan, this 230 ha body of water is a great alternative for cooling off.
Take a walk around the lake on a course of around 6,7 km or take advantage of the site facilities, such as the fitness areas or pétanque.

Exit bathing in the rivers of Albères

Swimming is prohibited in the various rivers of the Albères. Sometimes these are decisions taken for health reasons and other times for safety reasons.
In addition, it must be recognized that the summer temperatures, which get higher and higher each year, regularly dry up the rivers, leaving only a few mosquito spots in the water.
