CHATEAU ROYAL DE COLLIOURE

Standing proudly in the center of Collioure Bay, the royal castle has watched over the town since the 13th century. Formerly the residence of the lords of Roussillon, then of the kings of Aragon and Mallorca, it was continually embellished and fortified over the centuries. Transformed into a citadel in the 16th century and reinforced under the orders of Vauban, the castle bears witness to centuries of struggles for control of the border.
The views of the city are breathtaking from the Royal Castle, ideally located in the heart of Collioure. It is one of the city's marvels, renowned for its history, beauty, and imposing presence. It was even listed as a Historical Monument in 1922. The first fortification on this site was that of a Roman castrum.
The extra touch to fully enjoy the visit is to attend a guided tour, which immerses you in the world of the castle.
Shows and exhibitions are regularly organized, and it hosts numerous events.
