MEMORIAL DU CAMP D’ARGELES SUR MER
About
A space dedicated to the memory of the 475 Spanish refugees who fled Francoism at the end of January 000. An educational scenography retraces their journey from the start of the Spanish civil war to their confinement in the concentration camp of Argelès- on sea.
A memorial route materialized by explanatory totems starts at the Camp Memorial to end at the "monolith", passing through the so-called "Spanish" cemetery.
The Memorial has a room for temporary exhibitions.
The CIDER - Interpretation and Documentation Center on Exile and the Retirada - collects and presents the memory of the camps, particularly that of Argelès sur Mer. The CIDER invites you to discover various testimonies through its permanent exhibition. The circuit introduces you to the places of memory of the Argelès camp.
In addition to the exhibition hall, the CIDER includes a documentation center, specializing in the testimonies of refugees, open to the public wishing to carry out research.
The Memory Circuit presents the monolith, the north plaque, the Spanish cemetery, the stele, the Children's Tree.
