Located in the heart of the village, in a renovated traditional house, the Casa de l'Albera presents the Albères massif, a particular territory between France and Spain, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. History, know-how, traditions and landscapes (olive groves, vineyards) are evoked through exhibitions, collections and videos.
The Casa de l'Albera, in the heart of the village of Argelès-sur-Mer hosted from 1984 to 2010 a museum of crafts and popular traditions presenting a collection of tools and objects of daily life from the XNUMXth century and XX° centuries, and a Catalan library. The city, owner of the collections and the buildings, decided to restructure the whole and make it an interpretation center of the Albera. This new structure offers a space hosting exhibitions. The latter feature part of the collection. The Casa de l'Albera also houses a documentary resource center and a shop. It offers guided tours of the village and the beach.
