Nestled in the heart of Elne, the Terrus museum invites you to explore two fascinating worlds.

On the ground floor, the exhibition "Birth of a Bishopric" showcases recently discovered ancient sarcophagi, enriching an exceptional collection. These artifacts, artfully displayed, offer a glimpse into the religious and archaeological history of the city.

Upstairs, discover the brand-new exhibition dedicated to Étienne Terrus (1857-1922), a master of watercolor born in Elne. A close friend of Maillol, Matisse, and Derain, he captured the light of Roussillon in his works. Free from any particular school, and influenced by the Fauves in his later creations, Terrus painted a vibrant and sensitive landscape. An essential rediscovery of a major artist of the region.

The 2nd floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions, until November 2026: paintings by Maria Lluis.
