LE CHATEAU D'ORTAFFA

The date of construction of the castle remains unknown but evidence of its existence (dating back to the XNUMXth century) confirms that Ortaffa was a lordship of great importance.
The Ortaffa family has spread throughout the region at various times. 1499 is the year of death of Pierre d'Ortaffa. He was governor of the counties of Roussillon and Cerdagne, an important office which was also the prerogative of the Oms family.

From the old castle, much restored, some medieval remains have been preserved, including the tower and the enclosure which are still standing.
The whole has been transformed into private houses and guest rooms. For any visit, contact the owners. The building can be observed from the public domain as well as the remains of the tower and the ramparts.
