Sometimes, a weekend is all it takes to feel like you've gone much further…
Our hike began in the morning at the Col des Gascons, above Port-Vendres, with the goal of reaching the Chalet Albère, where we had booked the hiker package with dinner, overnight stay and breakfast.
The climb up to the Pic du Sailfort quickly reminded us that the GR10 is something you have to earn! But once the effort is over, the landscapes become gentler, alternating between open plateaus, shaded beech forests and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.

At midday, we settled down at the edge of a wood for a simple but perfect picnic, lulled by the silence of the mountain, the songs of birds… and a few cows.
As the kilometers pass, the discussions flow and the breeze helps us move forward. Hiking is a great opportunity to reconnect with friends.laugh, disconnect and take the time to contemplate magnificent landscapes: panoramas on the Côte Vermeille, up to the Bay of Roses, and on the Roussillon plain, along the Spanish border.

After more than 20 kilometers and nearly 1,300 meters of elevation gain, we reached the Chalet de l'Albère. A perfect stop, with the Pyrenees and a still slightly snow-capped Canigou as a backdrop, before setting off again the next day towards Laroque-des-Albères, on a shaded and cool path, leading to this village in the Albères, which was particularly lively on this Sunday morning.
And because here the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean, we ended this weekend as we had dreamed: with our feet in the water on the beach of Argelès-sur-Mer.
A few aches and pains, lots of memories… and already ready to get back to work the next day!
