The Tourist Office was contacted in advance by Célia, Julie POIRIER's assistant, to prepare a column for the show TÉLÉMATIN on FRANCE 2. With my colleague Marjorie, we accompanied her team in the preparations and attended the filming live, dedicated to fishing and the Côte Vermeille!
Meet on the big day at 7 a.m. on the quays of Port-Vendres with Marjorie to find Julie POIRIER, columnist full of good humor and enthusiasm (and you need quite a dose of that at this time!).
She has the pleasure of interviewing Manuel “Manu” MARTINEZ. A fisherman for more than 35 years in Port-Vendres, he is one of the last Small Trades on the Vermeille Coast and will talk about his activity and sea urchin fishing.
The day is not yet up, the air is very fresh...
…A little coffee at the Tourist Office is welcome!
This is the time to prepare the column more precisely: it will be short – barely a few minutes – and live: everything must be well orchestrated!
It's exciting to see Julie, very professional and friendly, who supplements her personal research with our knowledge and Manu's details.
Live time is slowly approaching...
…it’s time to go to the platform. The discussions will begin there and then continue on the boat.
Julie and her cameraman schedule the progress, the movement, discuss with the management about Paris and Thomas SOTTO who presents the show on set.
The tension builds a little – even for the pros it’s an adrenaline rush every time!
Silence is turned !
When the moment comes to go on air, the first seconds reveal the stress and then everything fades to make way for the discussion: friendly and precise (everything has been well prepared) and this gives a chronicle that we watch together then over a hot coffee drink.
For Marjorie and me it's a great experience to understand the workings of a shoot. We were delighted to meet the FRANCE 2 team who were able to highlight the work of small trades very well.
