ARGELES-SUR-MER

[Balade] Ermitage Notre-Dame-de-Vie

Delightful in every way, this walk will take you to the Hermitage Notre-Dame de Vie and its St-Jérôme Chapel from where the view is magnificent.

One of the most beautiful walks in Argelès-sur-Mer.

From the car park, go down towards the “camping des Mimosas” and turn right onto the tarmac road.
Follow the Massane road and the PR ARG8 markings, follow the expressway for around 800m.
At the second bridge, turn left and follow the Ermitage Notre-Dame de Vie PR ARG7 road which climbs slightly into the forest of pubescent oaks; then pass in front of the "Ferme du bonheur" and houses of the "Mas" type.
At the end of the tarmac road, a stone path leads to the Hermitage and the St Jérôme Chapel in pre-Roman style (10th century). These places are open and maintained all year round, you must be careful to respect them. Enjoy the view of the Canigou massif, the Roussillon plain, the villages and the Mediterranean Sea.
For the descent, take the track on the left closed by a green barrier that goes down. Quickly get back to the small road of Faba Est. It crosses the vineyards and offers beautiful views of part of the Albera massif.
At the crossroads at the small bridge, take the route already used to reach Valmy.
