Discover Cap de l'Abeille North and its famous Dome
Route details
Description
Inside the reserve, an organized mooring area prohibits anchoring. It is here, on the north face of Cap de l'Abeille, that "Le Dôme" is located, a site accessible by boat. Two buoys allow you to moor to dive on this site. You have to move north to reach the Dome from buoy no. 2 (3-4 meters of travel) or east from buoy n°14 (8-9 meters of displacement). In both cases, the important thing is to reach the rocky rise and turn around it. A good second half of the dive takes place around and above the Dome (between 12 and 5 meters) to optimize decompression. It is also the space of evolution in which observation will be the simplest and richest. During the exploration, observe the species hidden in the scree. It is easy to meet groupers, barracudas and sometimes a few stingrays. The solitary yellow coral Leptopsammia pruvoti causes magnificent luminous buds to emerge. Also remember to raise your eyes to the surface and to the top of the drop-off so as not to miss anything in the show. The dive profile of this site allows dive times of approximately one hour to be carried out without difficulty. There is no difficulty in getting your bearings keeping the Dome as a landmark and staying close to it. The ideal is to go up along the buoys but if this is not possible, the ascent will be done after having deployed your parachute by positioning yourself on the Dome because depending on the season, there may be a significant boat passage. Depending on the conditions of visibility, current or swell, more precise instructions will be offered. In general, we do not touch the species and we limit the supports as much as possible, especially for macro observation or for photographers. Do not forget that diving takes place in a reserve and that the impact on the environment must be limited...
