The two chapels (red mountain bike marking n°7)
Route details
Description
Start by descending towards the "Les Mimosas" campsite to take the Route de la Massane. Keep in the fast lane on the right. Do not take under the bridge.
At the next intersection, go back down the track on the left (green barrier) on the road towards the Ermitage Notre Dame de Vie. This road climbs through the oak forest to the two chapels. Enjoy the panorama of the Roussillon plain before heading back down. Take the DFCI-AL 29 trail.
After a few meters, use the DFCI-N°36 track which enters the cork oak forest and crosses the meadows of Mas Torrenaps and Platjatorta.
At the intersection, take the small asphalt road on your left (Mas Coq, private property). Be careful, for a few meters a real wall will face you. Then take DFCI track no. 28 on the left and gradually climb the mountain. Several flat areas allow you to catch your breath and take in an exceptional panorama between Mount Canigou, the Roussillon plain and the Mediterranean Sea.
Stay on this track where the forest is home to different species of oaks and which is crossed by streams. At cistern no. 372, descend to the left towards Valmy. Be careful to control your speed in this space shared between hikers and potentially a few vehicles near homes.
