Les Balcons de Sorède au départ de Lavail

Immerse yourself in a magical forest from the Tour de la Massane. Please note, the road which provides access to the hamlet of Lavail is closed during the summer period from the junction on the D2 between Sorède and Argelès.
Leave the Hameau de Lavail, chemin de Saint André (paved road then from the car park, dirt road) and follow the path along the river and the gorges of "La Massane".
In front of a fenced field, go to the left, directional sign indicating the Massane tower. The path is steep up to Roc del Grill. 
At this point, turn right. Continue to follow the markings to reach the tower. Climb through the forest.
Arrival at the tower. Enjoy this magnificent panorama then go towards Font Sant Andreu, do not take the Col de la Place d'Armes.
Go towards Col Verderol.
Go through the Col d'en Verderol to join the GR10, take a left towards the Pic des Quatre Termes.
Continue the route towards the Col des Trois Hêtres and the Col de l'Aranyo. 
At the intersection, turn right and go down into the forest, follow a stream then cross the river “La Massane”. Arrival in Lavail, end of route.

The Massane forest is a scientific research laboratory in which nearly 6500 species are inventoried over an area of ​​only 336ha. Overcrowding of this area may be irreversible for the habitat. This site is therefore subject to obligations and prohibitions aimed at protecting the natural heritage. The introduction or destruction of plants, animals and any work likely to harm in the natural environment are prohibited. Please strictly respect the regulations in force on this site to protect this environment. Information panels regularly present the measures in force. Bring water, snacks, cap or hat, windbreaker, possibly waterproof clothing or sunscreen. Stay on marked trails. Take away your waste. Be attentive to the weather and the risk of fire.
