De Lavail à Valmy par la Tour de la Massane

Discovering a heritage ranging from the Neolithic to the art nouveau of the 2th century. Attention: During the summer period the road which leads to the hamlet of Lavail is closed from the junction of the DXNUMX (between Sorède and Argelès).

Leave the Hameau de Lavail, chemin de Saint André (paved road then from the car park, dirt road) and follow the path along the river and the gorges of "La Massane".
In front of a fenced field, go to the left, directional sign indicating the Massane tower.
At this point, turn right. Continue to follow the markings to reach the tower. Climb through the forest.
Upon reaching the tower, take in the magnificent panorama. To descend, head towards Valmy; you will follow a path through the forest.
Arriving on the DFCI AL41 ter track. Turn left then take another left at the next junction.
At this point go left for a few meters and at the fork, take the path on the right.
Continue down into the forest to reach the Massane path and head towards the dolmens (Collets de Cotliure and Cova de l'Alarb)
Cut the track and continue to descend through the forest to see the other dolmen.
At the DFCI AL42 track, turn left and leave it to follow the parallel path. Rejoin the DFCI AL42 track. At the Mimosas campsite, turn right to reach the Valmy car park.

Practical information

Check the weather forecast before setting off. Bring water, a cap or hat, a windbreaker depending on the weather, and walking shoes. You might also want to bring a picnic. You are currently on a hiking trail along which regular household waste collection points are available for your use. Out of respect for this exceptional area used each month by tens of thousands of hikers and walkers, we ask you to deposit all your waste (glass, paper, food scraps, etc.) and any other litter you may unfortunately find during your walk at these collection points.
