Route details
Description
Leave Eurovélo 8 from the crossroads at the entrance to Sorède, heading towards the Village.
At the roundabout take the second exit towards the center of the village.
At the next roundabout take the second exit towards Laroque-des-Albères. You will follow, for about a hundred meters above, the town hall of Sorède. This portion of the road is one-way but in shared traffic space. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Albères massif in front of you.
Arriving on the square a few meters after the Church, turn left at the “Ma Maison” restaurant and take the road which goes straight up.
At the next crossroads keep right and leave the Hotel St-Jacques on your left. Continue on this path which will allow you to reach the heights of the village. Continue on rue du Moulin Cassanyes for approximately 800m.
Just before the roundabout, take the cycle path on your left until you reach the “Les Valbères” retirement home. From this point you will be on a lane differentiated from car traffic for your safety. A brand new track will take you to the entrance of Mas del Ca. From there you can possibly reach the Valley of the Turtles animal park, learn how the Solar Oven works, or simply enjoy the view overlooking the plain of the Roussillon.
To return, take Avenue de la Vallée Heureuse to the intersection with Route de Laroque. Cross straight on and at the next intersection go right onto Rue du Canigou until the next intersection.
At the stop sign, turn left into rue de la Gabarre and leave the village. After a few hundred meters the road winds between the vines. Be careful to find the Eurovélo 8 cycle path on your right about 500m after the last house.
Leave the cycle path towards Argelès-sur-Mer to complete this loop.
