(E12 – GR 92) Port de la Selva – Llançà

Route between coves, lighthouses and viewpoints in the Cap de Creus and Mar d'Amunt Natural Park

Crossing

Point of view

A recommended walk for the whole year, taking into account that from May to September it is recommended to do the route early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid high temperatures, since the shaded areas and the water points are non-existent. There is no picnic area but benches where you can rest and / or contemplate the landscape. Along the road there are several places where you can throw waste.
The Far de s'Arenella has free parking available for those who just want to walk part of the route.

From the Port de la Selva Tourist Office, follow the direction of the La Ribera car park and cross it, leaving the Arola campsite on the left. After the campsite, take the path to the right (GR92) towards Llançà.
Cross the beaches of Bell del Repòs and Taita and reach the viewpoint from where you can contemplate a magnificent view of the whole city.
In winter, you can observe the "baths of the monks", curious formations on the rocks, in the form of bathtubs, where it is said that the monks who lived in the monastery bathed there.
Follow the road and leave the beach of Pere Esteve to reach the large beach of El Port de la Vall, from where you can see the lighthouse of S'Arenella as well as the important elevation well known as rock or a rock of Caltré . Once past Port de la Vall beach, the path passes over a cliff from where you can see the Cova de la Colomera, where the waves break. At this point, momentarily leave the walkway and go down the stairs leading to the beaches where you can swim.
Continuing along the coastal path, the next beach to appear is Playa de l'Olla, also known as Cala Medusa, a small, wild, calm and charming cove, accessible from steep stairs.
Proceeding towards the north, the beaches of Solà and s'Arenella are soon visible and below the lighthouse of the same name. At this point, two options: pass in front of the lighthouse, a shortcut, or pass behind the lighthouse, the best option, which offers a viewpoint with fantastic views of Port de la Selva and the coast.
After the viewpoint, reach the famous lighthouse of S'Arenella, a building built in 1910 and inaugurated in 1913. It is a quadrangular building with a ground floor and a square tower in the upper part where is installed the headlight mechanism.
Leaving the lighthouse, enter the famous urbanization of Cap de Bol, named after the art of fishing practiced in antiquity.
The next beach is that of Balleu and right next to the beach of Vaquers, names acquired from former owners of contiguous land where the vineyard was cultivated
Once past Vaquers beach, stop at the Cap de Bol belvedere from where you can observe the shale reefs in the middle of which they were fishing.
Take the path again to reach the last beach in the municipality of Port de la Selva, Plage d'en Robert, which also took the name of the owner of a former vineyard located nearby, which has now disappeared.
A few meters higher, where the imaginary line that separates the two municipalities is, the road ceases to be paved and becomes dirt. You enter the territory of Llançà, following the path that leads to the beach of Cau de Llop which you must cross until you find steep stairs leading to the urbanization of the same name and from there to the beach next called Playa de Tonyines
Not far away, appears the Playa del Mig and La Farella, one of the busiest because it is the ideal location on Tramontana days.
Along the coast, arrive at the beaches of Titarolites, El Morer, El Embarril and the beach of Carboneras.
Leaving these beaches behind, arrive at the last stretch of the route where you can observe El Castellar, the islet located at the end of the port of Llançà.
Once at this point, go down the stairs that lead to the footbridge and the car park where the tourist office is located, the end point of the route.
