[Cyclo-Sport] Le Piémont des Albères

An easy route combining the sea and the villages of the Albères foothills.

From the Château de Valmy, turn left at the crossroads in the direction of Les Mimosas campsite. After the ford take the chemin de la Massane on your right which will take you to the edge of the expressway. Pass under the tunnel and continue on the Chemin de la Cérigue to the crossroads with the Route de Sorède. Go left along the railway line on your right. In front of the fire station, turn right and take the road bordering Massane to reach the Town Hall of Argelès-sur-Mer. (unofficial starting point of this loop). From the town hall to the left, go to the roundabout and take the second exit, rue des Trabucayres.
Arriving at the roundabout take the first right, avenue Molière, go to the swimming pool roundabout then continue straight on.
Take the first exit, Avenue du 8 mai 1945. Go straight ahead. At the "Blue Elephant" roundabout, go straight ahead again.
At the next roundabout turn right onto Route Nationale then immediately left Rue Marivaux. You will pass in front of the station. Go down the street and arrive at the roundabout where you will take the third left.
Go to the end of Rue du Repos and turn right onto Route de Sorède. Cross the bridge over the La Massana river and then over the D914. Continue to Sorède. Go through Sorède and follow the same road, called Route d'Argelès.  
After the bridge, turn right, pass in front of the Tourist Office and go to the next roundabout and take the third street, rue de la Vendée. You will pass in front of the church and arrive at the village square. You have to go around it and go left on the road to Laroque where you arrive by the avenue de la Côte Vermeille
You are now in the center of Laroque which you will cross passing on the right rue Louis and Michel Soler then avenue du Roussillon where you cross a bridge.
After the bridge take the first street on the left, avenue du Vallespir which becomes Ruta de la Roca when you arrive in Villelongue-dels-Monts.
In the center of Villelongue, turn right then immediately the first left, Carrer Longue. You then continue towards the ruta de Montesquieu, staying on this road (D11) to reach Montesquieu.
Arrived at the top of the Grand rue, turn left then right after the Place del Courreou, go straight on the Grand rue then on the long street on the right after the roundabout.
Cross the D618, and go to the right on the cycle path which runs alongside the expressway. You stay on the cycle path until Argelès.
Be careful at the last roundabout in Saint-André, stay well to the left on the cycle path.
You will arrive at a roundabout and take the second street, avenue de Montgat. Turn right at the end of the street then go over the bridge. At the traffic lights turn right towards Sorède. Pass the roundabout then the tunnel under the SNCF track and immediately take the Route de la Cérigue to the left to go back up to Valmy via the path taken at the start.
