LAROQUE DES ALBERES

Le Casot d'en Lic

Discover one of the vestiges linked to pastoralism and livestock farming up to the end of the 19th century in the Albera massif.

From the Tourist Office/Maison de la Randonnée, go to the Church and the village center.
Facing the Church gate, take Rue de l'Eglise, a dead end, followed by the path, limited on the left by a stream. The path leaves the village. Going up, pass the Pave mill and the Font dels Ocells. The path follows a half-buried pipe. At the junction, turn right (small water reservoir).
Here, a crossroads of trails. Indicative signs. Turn left towards Les Cabanes.
At “Mas Bordes” (completely renovated building), continue straight along the building. The climb takes place through undergrowth until you reach a crossroads with a signpost.
Follow the direction “Col de l’Ullat” until the next crossroads where you will do the same.
Take the path opposite. The narrow passage between two rocks was once used by shepherds to count their animals (Portell Estret). The path, still marked in yellow, continues due south, slightly uphill. Cornice passage with beautiful panoramas of Laroque. The path crosses a first ravine then the small river: Correc de les Teixoneres.
At the intersection, take the slightly steep descent towards Mas d'En Lic. Reach the river which must be crossed at the level of the passage provided. Go along it following the yellow markings. Arrive at a clear space, take the path which goes up towards a small restored farmhouse (Mas d'En Lic). From the path, the Tour de Laroque appears. Continue in this direction.
At the level of a cliff, the course has been set up with a handrail. To be careful. Continue straight ahead to reach the track which you must go down following the bends until you reach the tarmac road. Continue straight after the ruins of Roca Vella.
After the Sant Sebastia chapel, turn right onto the Florentine footbridge which crosses the Laroque gardens.
Go back up rue du Château to the right, pass in front of rue de l’Eglise then go back down.
After Place de la République, take rue Maréchal Joffre then at the fork on the left to reach the Tourist Office.
